His dark materials : Narrative and genre: What is the story here? Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) tells the antagonist, Marisa Coulter (Ruth Wilson) what's going on. What he tells Wilson is something she's not expecting, and she's obviously not happy about it. The story is told quickly, like the audience knows what's going on before Lord Asriel tells it to them.

Medium closeup - the beginning couple seconds, a medium shot is used. this style of filmingfrff is not complex . So it has effectively recorded a conversation with a slight tension.
Tracking shot- just really adds more dynamic to the scene but in a subtle way, also makes Marisa seem more powerful as Asriel is tailing after her.
How is sound used to create atmosphere? There’s diegetic sound which are echoes of their voices, There is a diegetic accompaniment of their echoing voices, as well as an instrumental accompaniment of the build-up to the climax during the Lord Asriel’s monologue, which culminates in an orchestration of trumpets that conveys a sense of realization to the audience.
What aspects of mise-en-scene (CLAMPS) help to communicate meaning to the audience? Mrs. Coulter is wearing a dark brown pantsuit and chunky boots, showing off her serious side. Lord Asriel, on the other hand, is wearing a plain pair of jeans, a gun in his holster, a long sleeve shirt with a collar, and boots. His outfit shows that he's comfortable, but he's always on guard because of the gun. The lighting is artificial, with lights on the walls and the setting is the bottom floor of a storage room with a ship, which shows how close the two characters are.
Representations: What representations can you find in this clip - does it reinforce or subvert stereotypes?
How? that men are savage and prevailing animals while ladies are accommodating to there viciousness intrinsically. This is seen when Master Asreil pins Mrs Coulter to the wall by her neck
Clip 2: Charmed
It sounds like the clip is about a woman telling a skeptical doctor about supernatural forces. The doctor thinks it's a joke or a set-up by his ex-wife.
It seems like the camera shots in the clip varied between close-ups and medium shots, creating an intimate connection between the characters and the audience. The background music added to the suspenseful atmosphere.
During the scene, the man doesn't pay attention to what the woman is saying and continues to propose different possibilities. This reinforces the stereotype that men often disregard women's ideas and opinions.
theres many close up shots whilst people are speaking to create a point of view to the audience, also to show the facial expressions of each actor which might be significant to the plot line.
theres not a lot of variation amongst the camera shots as the scene already has a ton of content so i think the shots are there to just aid the content and to create more impact and add some dynamic to the entire clip.
once again, there arent actually really any additional sound, its mainly diegetic sound which they can all hear.
the clothes simply are suited to what the characters are, i.e the doctor in a lab coat and tie.
the clothes the girls are wearing reinforce how females should wear slightly revealing clothes

Shadow and Bone is an awesome series about Alina Starkov, a soldier who discovers her unique power. It's filled with magic, mythical creatures, and a captivating world. The camera shots and sound create an immersive experience, while costumes and props enhance the storytelling. It's an epic adventure!
theres great uses of wide angle shots which so easily creates tension as the girl is infront of a crowd of people as if brings the feeling of discomfort alive.
also uses of overhead shots when conversations are being filmed, allows reactions to be shown.
close up shots of when the man takes of his ring is key, as it further establishes the importance of the prop.
theres an obvious power in balance in regards to the man and girtl standing infront of him, already shows how naturally men will take the more dominant and fear mongering role and naturally a woman will subvert to the man to attempt to avoid conflict

Our coursework task involves coming up with our own idea for an original television drama that you have created. This must follow the conventions of the fantasy genre and show that you have thought about how to meet the brief and aim your production at the family target audience.

Logline – one sentence that sums up the plot of your TV drama and hooks people in (25 words or fewer): this drama is full of twists and turns, the unexpected. a test of friendship and faith.

Narrative – what is the main storyline in your TV drama: the main storyline is how 2 friends need to learn how to take on new experiences together.
Genre – how will your TV drama fit the fantasy genre? in my opinion, fantasy screams powers and magic, and that is the new experiences they must tackle.
Narrative disruption – what will happen in your scene to develop the narrative? the power comes at a random time (mind reading), both incredibly confused
What will the audience learn about the characters or story? how close they are in friendship although it slightly changes the entire dynamic

My idea:
Essentially, my project will be about 2 best friends who find a book and this book will have some sort of fantasy element to it when being touched by the 2 friends. There will be a list of things that they must complete to get special powers, however their powers get them into trouble as they cant control them
